Where Peat-Free Compost Begins
The farm is not simply where our ingredients come from – it is where the whole idea begins.
At our family farm at Orchard View, Fulstow Top, near Louth, every decision starts with the soil. Generations of Lincolnshire farming experience have taught us that productive land cannot be taken for granted. It must be understood, protected, and continually renewed.
Sustainable Peat-Free
Farming Starts Below Ground
Each September, selected fields are drilled with bespoke cover-crop seed mixtures, including nitrogen-fixing legumes chosen to suit the individual needs of the land.
While the crops grow above ground, their roots work beneath it: naturally fixing nitrogen, improving soil structure, capturing carbon, and giving tired or underperforming fields time to recover before being harvested for our peat-free compost.

Closed-Loop Composting
Led By The Seasons
Through winter, local sheep graze the established cover crops, providing natural fertilisation and returning vital nutrients directly to the soil.
In spring, the upper plant growth is harvested and transferred to our on-site farm composting area. Pollen and nectar-rich wildflowers are then drilled into the remaining cover, while beehives are positioned around the field margins to support pollinators, wild birds, and local Lincolnshire wildlife throughout the summer.
Repurposing Resources
& Soil Regeneration
Our fields move through a carefully managed three-year crop rotation. As one field returns to food production, another enters the cycle, maintaining established green cover across the farm year-round.
Agricultural straw is repurposed into our organic compost rather than wasted, while sustainable willow is grown on wet ground less suited to conventional cropping. Every part of the farm is given a practical purpose, helping us reduce waste and use natural resources intelligently.
Rooted In Lincolnshire
Sustainable Compost Grown For Tomorrow
This is sustainable, closed-loop farming in practice: not a single initiative, but an ongoing cycle shaped by the soil, the seasons, and a long-term responsibility to the land.
It is how we protect our Lincolnshire farm today while creating the natural foundations of our high-performance peat-free compost for the growers, landscapers, and gardeners of tomorrow.
